About OptimaMind

“OptimaMind: Enhancing Cognitive Longevity through Lifestyle and Nutrition”

OptimaMind is an internationally funded research project, selected as one of 15 innovative projects in the “NutriBrain: Modulation of Brain Ageing through Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle” competition organized by the Era4Health Partnership. This competition, co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, recognizes cutting-edge initiatives aimed at advancing public health through nutrition and lifestyle interventions.

Our Research Focus

At the heart of OptimaMind is the exploration of Time-Restricted Eating (TRE) as a natural, non-pharmacological approach to enhance cognitive performance and safeguard brain health. Historically, intermittent fasting was an intrinsic part of human life, and our research seeks to understand how these ancient practices can be adapted to address modern challenges. By investigating how TRE affects neuroprotective and neurodegenerative biomarkers, our study aims to:

  • Improve cognitive performance

  • Reduce systemic inflammation

  • Boost the production of beneficial compounds such as beta-hydroxybutyrate and others, which play a crucial role in brain energy metabolism

Our Vision

Over the next 3-5 years, OptimaMind aims to deliver transformative insights that will inform public health policies, guide clinical practices, and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations for preventing dementia and promoting cognitive longevity.

By bridging traditional nutritional wisdom with modern scientific research, we aspire to redefine healthy ageing and empower individuals to maintain optimal brain health throughout their lives.

Our Consortium

Our diverse consortium is composed of leading experts from Poland, Italy, Austria, and Estonia, in collaboration with the UK-based organization Food For The Brain. The project brings together a wealth of expertise to explore Time-Restricted Eating (TRE) as a promising non-pharmacological strategy for enhancing brain health and mitigating age-related cognitive decline.
